You can now see them perform as a Duo or with the full band, including Mike Ewing, bass, and Jeff Thomas, drums. Echoes plays a variety of rock originals and covers.

Roger Blake

Lead Guitar/Producer/Band Leader/ Composer/Lyricist

Roger Blake,  guitarist,  songwriter,  and producer, has been involved in the Wilmington, NC music scene for the last 30 years.  From joining the band Freemason in the 1990s, to founding the band Hellbroth in the early 2000s, Roger has had the opportunity to work with a who's who of artists from around the region.  With the forming of Echoes Of Heroes in 2017 with vocalist  and long time collaborator, John Panichello,  and the subsequent release of their eponymous debut in 2019, Roger is eager to bring his diverse and unique music to audiences once again.

John Panichello

Lead Singer/ Composer/Lyricist

John Panichello has been seen and heard on the music scene in Wilmington since the late '90s, appearing on local tv, radio, and in music venues like The Mad Monk, Riverfest and Budwiser Wing Fling. After graduating from UNC-Wilmington he produced and performed at the first major benefit rock concert for the Battleship North Carolina. At that time, John also worked as a featured extra on several major motion pictures (most notably "the headbanger" in the store of Empire Records. One of the bands songs was even featured on the hit TV show Dawson's Creek. You can also catch him as an extra in the upcoming show The Runarounds for Amazon Prime.

John decided to venture out of Wilmington, living for a time in LA and in NYC, where he would meet his future wife. Having a successful career touring with a major rock band, performing as an actor on stage, film, tv and on international tours and working in comedy, John decided it was time to finally return home to his roots...where his passion for music and performing all began.

Since then, John and Roger have been back in the studio again, writing, re-writing and producing all of the great works that have been stored up inside of them waiting for this opportunity to work together again. This is "The Moment" where the "Echoes Of Heroes" find "The Way Home."

Jeff Thomas

Drummer

Jeff Thomas, percussionist, started drumming over 30 years ago, taking private lessons and playing in an indie band while in high school. He went on to march for four years with the Blue Stars Drum Corps. Jeff gigged around Chicago and was in a few different rock bands while there: The Nouns, Life Like Fire, and Rude King (a ska band). He then moved to the east coast and became the new guy in Echoes of Heroes.

Jeff  grew up on '90s grunge. Some of his favorite bands were/are: Helmet, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Faith No More, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, and Pantera.

Mike Ewing

Bass

Michael Ewing, bassist and composer, is known for his simple and modest approach. He's held down the low end for bands like Psykill, Mourner's Gallery, Hellbroth, and others. His interest in recording and composing began in the mid-90's with his goth/industrial project, Death Lies Bleeding.  Since then, he's produced demos for a number of local artists, collaborated on songs with friends, and produced a song for Dawson's Creek (Season 6 Episode 17). Michael is excited to once again work with longtime friends and collaborators.

We look forward to playing for you soon!
